Field Bets

The Field Bets are strategically placed in the middle of the table very close to you no matter where you are staying at the table (if you are playing online craps this doesn’t matter). The reason for this bet being so easily accessible is that it holds a 5.56% house edge for the casino, so obviously they want you to bet on the field. Even though the house edge is relatively high the field bet is far from the worst bet at the craps table and we would actually recommend the field bet for beginners as it’s a very simple bet to understand and it helps you understand the game.

Fast Action With the Field Bet

The Field Bet is a fast paced bet that is perfectly suited for action junkies (you know you are one). When placing a Field Bet the outcome of your wager is decided on the next roll, win or lose. If you win your bet you can decide to either take home your winnings or to “let it ride” on another roll. When letting the winnings ride you have a chance of growing a big bankroll very quickly but you should be aware that it’s very unlikely that you will win plenty of these bets in a row.

How the Field Bet Works

You can place a field bet at any time during the game, it doesn’t matter if the point has been established by the come out roll or not. Unlike the number bets on the craps table you are allowed and supposed to place your Field Bets on your own without the help of the dealer.

You win even money your stake if the next roll is a 3, 4, 9, 10 or 11

You win 2 to 1 on your stake if the next roll is a 2

You win 3 to 1 on your stake if the next roll is a 12

You lose your stake if the next roll is a 5, 6, 7 or 8
