Craps: What You Need to Know to Play

Craps is a game of high intensity, quick action, and a lot of hooting and hollering when things are going good or bad. When you enter any casino you can usually find the craps table with your eyes closed, especially if the dice are hot that day! The great thing about craps today is that anyone can enjoy the game. You can learn how to play craps from the comfort of your own home today because you can log on the internet and play real money craps! Even if you have never played craps before, now is the time to do it because you never have to leave your favorite easy chair, and it is a very straight forward game. While the game is known for being fast paced and on the intense side, that doesn’t mean you can’t start playing and really enjoying craps.

When you learn how to play craps you will start with the Pass or Don’t Pass bet. When you bet on Pass you are betting for the shooter and when you bet on Don’t Pass you are betting against him. Both the Pass and Don’t Pass bets earn even money but the Don’t Pass bet gives the player better odds in terms of their own game.

After all Pass or Don’t Pass bets have been made the first shooter will make his come out roll. If the roll is not either a seven or an 11 the roll is known as a point. Next, the shooter tries to roll his point number again before rolling a seven. If he is not able to roll his point number again before he rolls a seven is said to have “crap out” and he will give the dice to the next shooter. The chance to become a shooter rotates around the table in a clockwise motion.

Next you will participate in the Come and Don’t Come bets. These bets are almost exactly like the Pass and Don’t Pass bets but they take place after the shooter establishes his point. The come bet is one that is in favor of the shooter and the Don’t Come bet is against the shooter. The shooter will attempt to roll the same point number again without crapping out and those with the Come bet have the same goal.

As you can see, learning how to play craps really isn’t all that difficult. The game is very fast paced though, so the first few times that you play you may feel like you cannot move fast enough and that you don’t really have a chance to see what is being done. Once you have five to ten games under your belt you won’t think about the speed anymore, you’ll just enjoy the thrill of betting for or against the shooter while trying to win some money along the way. It is important to remember that while many people bet for the shooter, a better bet is to bet against him as you will be lowering the house edge substantially.
